Animal Kimono Patterns. Pretty And Gorgeous Patterns Like Sparrow, Crane And Peacock

This time I’ll write about animals on the Kimono.

Traditional patterns are chinese phoenix, azure dragon, white tiger, black tortoise,

vermilion bird which means happiness and wealth.

Even more we love to wear cute animals like cat, dog, panda, bear, fish, dolphin and so on.

Each of Kimono designers draw animals such a variety way.

Stylish, adorable, sharp, cool, colorful and sophisticated taste.

Sparrow

From way back “Sparrow and Bamboo” is symbol of lucky combination and “Sparrow and Ear of rice plant” is tradition scene in autumn.

Have you ever seen “Plump Sparrow(Fukura Suzume)”?

It comes from a Collection of Tales from Uji’s “The tongue-cut sparrow”.

Plump form is so cute and it draw on kid’s Kimono, property and toys.

Small patterns of plumpy sparrows on the Edokomon is very popular.

It’s so fashionable!

 

Crane

Crane

Crane is known as longevity life and symbol of happiness.

It is said that crane only drinks water after they lived 600 years.

The wing of crane changes from white to black after 2000 years and they live more several century.

Crane is always seen on the many types of Kimono.

The graceful figure of crane captures all of us.

 

Peacock

Peacock

Peacock inhabits in the tropical zone. In India, China, Southeast Asia.

The beauty of peacock is loved all over the world.

In the Kimono world, it drew on the Uchikake, Kosode, Obi by complicated embroidery and weave.

 

Carp

Carp

People cherished carp as the head of river.

Known as symbol of success.

So that every Boy’s Day celebration(May 5th), people decorate carp pennant just in front of the house.

Carp is also called “Riku Riku Gyo” thus number of scales.

 

Do you know “Ariso pattern” which comes from Meibutsu Gire?

It’s one of the  gorgeous pattern that carps dancing on the wave.

Carp pattern is worn by men and women of all ages.

Rabbit

Rabbit is really cute in every design.

In the Momoyama periodo, Suminokura Ryoui who is trading merchant brought from Min.

Rabbit crouches for flowers.
